Coreguaje Tribe Mambe
$112.50 – $488.00
This mambe is from the Coreguaje tribe of Caqueta, Colombia. Much like the Uitoto tribe, the Coreguaje tribe have a deep reverence and cultural significance in the use of mambe. The process is very similar, with the same ashes being used as the activator. The difference is subtle, the taste slightly more bitter than uitoto, though equally fine. Each tribe has their specific method of making the mambe, and much of the difference comes down to the vibration and ritual memory during its creation process.
As with many tribes of the Amazon, deforestation is causing displacement of the Coreguaje people. It is of utmost importance to contribute to organizations that protect the rainforest such as the Nature Conservancy, Amazon Watch, and Amazon Conservation Association.
